## Опис навчальної дисципліни

Course “Numerical methods” is the normative discipline of the cycle of mathematical and natural science studying.

Aim: To provide students with the basic concepts of numerical methods and computational algorithms that are used in information technologies.

The subject of the study of the discipline are the methods of solving the problems of inpolation and quadratic approximation, numerical differentiation and integration, problems of linear algebra, solving of nonlinear equations and systems of nonlinear equations, using one-step and multi-step, explicit and implicit methods for solving the Cauchy problem for ordinary differential equations, finite difference method for solving the boundary value problem for ordinary differential equations, differential methods for solving partial differential equations them.

Interdisciplinary connections: For the study of discipline, knowledge is required on the following disciplines: higher mathematics, discrete mathematics, algorithm theory, algorithmization and programming, object-oriented programming. Knowledge obtained during the study of discipline will be used in the study of the following disciplines: mathematical methods of operations research, the theory of decision-making, system modeling, control theory, computer design technology, system analysis.

Objective: The course of numerical methods should ensure student familiarity with the general theory of numerical methods and form skills for their practical use. Indicator of mastering by student the course material is the ability to select and substantiate the numerical method for solving the problem, specify the scope of its application, write down the algorithm of solving, implement it on a personal computer and analyze the accuracy of the result.

As a result of this course, the student must:

Know: basic concepts, definitions and problems of the course; requirements for the formulation of the main tasks of numerical methods; the purpose and features of the application of basic numerical methods;

Be able to: have the mathematical apparatus of numerical methods; apply numerical methods for applied problems solving ; implement the numerical methods on the modern personal computers.
