Опис навчальної дисципліни
The purpose of the course is to form students’ knowledge and practical skills of working with electron microscopes. The issues of interaction of electrons with matter are considered; electron beam characteristics; structure and principles of operation of lenses; principles of operation of electron microscopes in different modes; principles of formation and processing of images obtained in an electron microscope; methods of sample preparation for electron microscopic studies.
Learning outcomes:
know:
Classification of modern electron microscopes.
Structure and principles of operation of the basic elements of electron microscopes.
Physical principles of operation of electron microscopes in different modes
Factors influencing the contrast of the image in the electron microscope and special methods of their processing.
Methods of sample preparation for electron microscopic studies.
be able:
Work with the vacuum system of the electron microscope.
Manufacture and replace thermoelectronic cathodes for the electron-optical gun of the microscope.
Investigate the structure of films by electrography.
Investigate the size distribution of crystallites in sprayed films.
Prepare samples for electron microscopic examination.
