Non-formal education

Recently, methods of non-formal education have become very popular. For comparison, consider it in comparison with the formal one.

Formal education is education that includes all types of knowledge acquisition within the national education system. This includes education at a school, college or university, as well as in all other institutions that are aimed at training individuals within the framework of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Informal education is much easier. After all, it includes the acquisition of all other knowledge during a person’s life. This means that we begin to learn informally from the moment we are born. Its main feature is voluntariness and sincere interest in the subject of study.

Diversified sports clubs and creative circles, summer camps, trainings and even volunteering – all these are versatile manifestations of non-formal education. Let us then define the goals of organizations providing non-formal education:

  • the formation of an active civil position of the younger generation;
  • promoting the socialization of schoolchildren in society;
  • increasing the social and professional competence of young people;
  • acquiring motivation for learning in general;
  • the formation of strategic life goals of graduates of general education institutions;
  • solving social problems of a local scale;
  • improving the process of vocational guidance for young people.

The development of non-formal education is promoted by world organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, the European Union, the Council of Europe and others. That is why non-formal education is more developed in Europe, and is perceived by European employers on a par with formal education.

Formal and non-formal education are two indispensable phenomena of a person’s versatile education throughout life. Each of the training systems has its own advantages and disadvantages. The main thing is that both formal and non-formal education completely capture you. Only then does learning become effective.
