The staff of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies supported the candidacy of Yurii Furgala for the post of Dean of the Faculty

On March 26, 2024, a Conference of the staff of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was held. The agenda of the Conference included the approval of the candidacy of Associate Professor Yurii Furgala for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies. The meeting was attended by the delegates of the Conference, as well as the Rector of the University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk, First Vice-Rector Andrii Hukaliuk, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Informatization Vitalii Kukharskyi.

According to the procedure, the delegates of the Conference listened to and discussed the faculty development program presented by Yurii Mykhailovych. Later, everyone asked him questions and took part in the discussion of the presented program, and after the discussion, the Conference agreed on the candidacy of Associate Professor Yurii Furgala for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies.

The Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies is one of the leading faculties of the University in the field of IT. The faculty community develops and implements educational and scientific standards in the field of information technology and electronics, and the faculty itself is a regional leader in the field of knowledge in the combination of hardware, software, and organizational solutions in the field of information technology and electronics.

The educational process at the faculty is provided by about 120 teachers. Today, the faculty has six departments: the Department of Optoelectronics and Information Technologies, the Department of Radioelectronic and Computer Systems, the Department of Radiophysics and Computer Technologies, the Department of Sensor and Semiconductor Electronics, the Department of System Design, and the Department of Physical and Biomedical Electronics.

The faculty pays special attention to cooperation with IT companies and the improvement of educational programs following the requirements of the modern labor market, so the faculty trains specialists in such educational programs as Software Engineering, High Performance Computing, Computer Science, Information Systems and Technologies, Electronics and Computer Systems, Sensor and Diagnostic Systems.

We would like to add that by the requirements of the current legislation, the Statute of the University and following the Regulations on the appointment of the Dean of the Faculty at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, the Rector addresses the Conference of the Faculty Staff with a request for consent to the appointment of the relevant candidate.

The Attestation and Personnel Commission of the Academic Council of the University checks the compliance of the candidate for the position of the Dean of the Faculty with the qualification requirements established by the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” (as amended) and the Statute of the University, documents confirming the level of proficiency in the state language, the availability of a faculty development program.

In case the Conference of the Faculty Staff agrees to the appointment of the Dean of the Faculty, the applicant shall submit an application and other documents required by law within five working days. The Rector of the University concludes a contract within 10 working days and issues an order on the appointment of the Dean of the Faculty.
