Back on November 28, 2023, a literary and musical evening of the Cossack history of Ukraine was held to mark the 220th anniversary of the death of Petro Kalnyshevsky (1691 – +12.11.1803), the last Cossack Ataman of the Zaporozhian Sich.

The Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies of Ivan Franko University held a traditional patriotic educational student evening, which this year was dedicated to the Cossack period of Ukraine’s history.

With a quiet and sincere prayer, the students and guests of the Evening honored the memory of the Heroes who died fighting for the freedom of Ukraine.

The evening was the debut of the first-year students of our faculty. There were 21 of them on stage – from nine regions of Ukraine: Volyn, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Mykolaiv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and, of course, Lviv!

They sang songs about Ukrainian Hetmans – Sahaidachnyi, Doroshenko, Mazepa.

The students recited poems by Taras Shevchenko and Borys Mozolevsky about the Cossacks and told about the lives and victories of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Ivan Sirko, Ivan Vyhovsky, Ivan Mazepa, and Petro Kalnyshevsky. Their stories were illustrated by dozens of slides with portraits of Hetmans, paintings on Cossack themes, etc.
