Stefan Banach Prize in the field of mathematical sciences

Stefan Banach is one of the creators of modern functional analysis, one of the two founders and undisputed leaders of the Lviv Mathematical School, professor at Yan Kazimierz University in Lviv and Lviv Polytechnic (since 1924), dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Lviv University (1939-1941), head of the Institute of mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (Lviv branch) (1940-1941), deputy of the Lviv City Council (1940-1941).

The Stefan Banach Prize is awarded every year in May for the achievements of students and postgraduates of the faculties of electronics and computer technologies, applied mathematics and informatics, and the mechanics and mathematics faculty of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The prize is awarded in the following directions:

🟢 computer sciences
🟢 artificial intelligence systems
🟢 computer engineering
🟢 mechanics
🟢 mathematical sciences

👉 Scientific works and works written and published (performed) within the last two years, but no later than a month before their nomination for the Prize, are nominated for the Stefan Banach Prize in the technical and mathematical direction.

The prize is awarded to full-time students and post-graduate students of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University.
